The studio

NEFER was founded by an artist. Not a furniture company. Not a manufacturer.

An artist who believed that the objects we live with every day deserve the same intention as a work made to be seen on a wall.

How a piece is made

Sketch, then hand, then oil.

Nothing here is pressed, veneered or finished by machine. Every step leaves a mark you can find.

Sketch

Every piece begins as a drawing. Proportion is settled on paper — in pencil, at full size — before a single cut is made.

Hand-shaping

Egyptian craftsmen shape solid wood and marble by hand, following the grain — its resistance, its warmth, where it wants to go.

Natural oil finish

A hand-rubbed oil finish, three coats, left to cure. It lets the material breathe and deepen for years instead of sealing it shut.
