NEFER was founded by an artist.
Not a furniture company. Not a manufacturer. An artist who believed that the objects we live with every day deserve the same intention as a work made to be seen on a wall.
The name comes from Ancient Egyptian. نفر — NEFER — means beautiful. Complete. Good. It is the hieroglyph of the heart and windpipe together: beauty that breathes. We chose it because that is what we are trying to make — not just furniture, but objects with a life in them.
Every piece begins as a sketch. It is then shaped by hand by Egyptian craftsmen who understand wood the way a painter understands paint — its resistance, its warmth, where it wants to go.
